Freshwater Escape in the Heart of the Rift
Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley lakes and the only major freshwater one, which gives it a completely different character to Nakuru and Elementaita. Hippo pods lounge in the shallows and fish eagles call from the fever trees along the shore.
Crescent Island is a private sanctuary with no large predators, so visitors can walk among giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and impala on foot. Nearby Hell's Gate National Park offers cycling and gorge walking between dramatic red cliffs.
